"It starts with a famous and very beautiful picture by Nan Goldin, Sharon in the River, a picture is not seen but that the narrator describes, the "magician" that gives the book its title and, little by little, it goes very far in space and time for regular return to this photo, enigmatic center of the book radiates sensuality, before leaving again for new adventures. A mage? or an artist, a writer and why not? A writer, artist, medium, endowed with an ultra-penetrating perception as much mental as physical things, imaginary, memories, past and present. Is a soliloquy incredible inventiveness, a dizzying humor, ranging from the infinitely small to the infinitely large, the most intimate and most autobiographical evocation of historical high s pectacle. It is a reflection in words and images on art, representation, grief, suffering and love. Profusely illustrated with images that come mark this unbridled narrative course, it crackles from all sides, supreme elegance, hide the suffering heart of the book. "(From the blurb of the book).
