Literary Awards and the power
There are things happening in the world literary prizes, this hall of fame media authors! By requiring that it removes from the list of finalists, Gil Courtemanche did more than denounce an abuse of power within Quebecor, the lockout of 250 employees of the Journal de Montréal that has lasted two years, it reveals the nature deeply political independence of any literary award.
While respecting the courage they were not to remain silent - it was the easiest solution - I am still rather puzzled by the reaction has collected Press five participants at this price four authors and a publisher. Jean-Simon Desrochers Caroline Allard, Stéphane Dompierre Szalowski Pierre and Antoine Tanguay.
Desrochers claims first for him a right of non-alignment and neutrality, which certainly right refers to the concept certainly less justice than the law of the strongest, which is as it seems everywhere but especially here always the best. At almost exactly the four others are liable under the same logic, some thanking God that this controversy had not erupted the year they won the prize, including another from this assertion of a terrifying cynicism "We can not ask the poor to stand together in a war between the richest." Dompierre adds more: "Should we boycott bookstores Archambault, too?". To which one might reply that this is certainly not the only reason not to enter. Never find the latest releases in Quebec poetry or essay is the main reason for me, never find me randomly of launches or events in the intellectual and cultural life in Montreal is another, as in branches these chains, it never happens anything.
These five agents of the literary world, however, are not to blame, rather, they represent a more serious symptom of unhappy consciousness that exists within the institutions that represent Quebec literature in the public square, a consciousness in the Hegelian sense that it gives Alexander Kojeve, namely the ability to think his powerlessness coupled with an inability to think beyond it. Such as literary awards are a powerlessness of the literature in that their bases fit into a space that is outside of office, commercial space and a space for media exposure, more than in an interior space where the debate would focus on such critical choices and award the prize to a winner rather than another. That these agents have come to believe in the logic of this award to the point of committing to him politically (because despite his restraint, non-interference is always a position) demonstrates the sad state in which the literary world is now where the problem arises suddenly taking a position as consensus that support for employees locked out of a company that works more often to the marginalization of literature that flourished.
All that to say that despite the often ironic side and apparently little serious Academy we founded the company may finally be less comical that these prices that result from the media so as to compromise. Without further collusion that between the literary world to itself, the prices we can still attribute afford to reclaim their sovereignty, and thus an autonomy that does not invoke a hypothetical pitifully right to neutrality. Moreover, its basic principle, to award the literature prize as books or authors who have little chance to win elsewhere, clearly indicates the type of policy practiced there, for better or for worse.
That said, we still have to be grateful to Gil Courtemanche of having orchestrated the unveiling of the political posturing that force to take this award. In literature as in all institutions, the power that organizes the visibility is, paradoxically, always difficult to show.

Bookfair preselection and prices of Academy of literary life at the turn of the 21st century
is the Salon du livre de Montréal! That is to say the place most distressing and most demoralizing in which a writer can find, since you got like 500 authors unknown to the general public who look pitiful people queuing up to go to either go show the author's youth how their children are now so advanced for their age in reading, is to meet French novelist mainstream they have seen all the speaking world, is to go pay homage to this media personality who has deigned to descend among the crowd to be given the honor of kissing hands moved over his novel of shit that everyone is sacred or his great biography of 600 pages printed in 18 points.
Nevertheless, one of the most interesting things that makes the show, it can enter into a single visit to the scope of all books published in one year in Quebec, the wafer with austere poetry editions the Tribe to the annual revision of the Civil Code Publications du Quebec, including of course The dice of fate , the anthology Gargoyle and the Car Guide . And as the Academy of literary life at the turn of the 21st century is already hard at work to find the 2010 recipients of its prestigious , Doctorak, Go! saw fit to pass, therefore the show, buy all the books, read them all and it offers today's premiere Great Préselection Awards 2010. Note that all authors of these books will be this weekend in signing at one time or another Book Fair, which merit in itself already contained in this list. Here they are.
What selection! They come and tell me What has no talent in Quebec. My hair Drette sua head.
It goes without saying that this list will be expected to change significantly during the process that will lead us to the big awards ceremony at the gala to be held in February 2011. So watch the authors, do not be surprised if you never won any prizes. Also note that many of the titles in this list were selected based on the criteria "but that could well move to the Book Fair to request a dedication to that book?" Test, which is currently debate the relevance in the many official committees of Academy of literary life at the turn of the 21st century . As we debate this tone as "happiness, thoughts positive and joie de vivre "which often gives a taste of spanking in business. Ordinarily, we should find that it is exploitative of people in distress, but for once, we made the effort to open our hearts to the finer things in life, birds and flowers, kindness and hope for a better world and universal brotherhood and love and banging your head banging head mouths bukkake fart Crystal Meth accidents char-crazy shooter suicide destroy atenttas arach de zongle Noey of chas tis raped bebé no no ARRNONNONNONNONCRRRGJJJ LOUGLADIGIDIZI SEURBELGFIEMG ZDODRI FF FF FF FF FF f. ..

No, Doctorak does not spend his days playing Minesweeper
If there is not much action here these days, because Doctorak is preparing business ... Funny business ... Who will be revealed in due course ...
The first surprise is a series of interviews to be held every Monday from now on my Twitter I will be reporting live on site. In fact, I already started last week, when I noticed Olivieri wildly from the library for details of a round table that went wrong. Here it is, layout for those of you, many, who missed the event:
Yvan Lamonde spandex trying to run the jack hammer, it was well worth the trip. But where are you so when it goes something interesting?
The interview is scheduled to begin tomorrow live on twitter around 10am. This is where it's going to happen .

7:48 - At Olivieri's full of metal chairs like the fight. I say it just the same, the luchador looks to keep crucifixes in public places.
7:56 - Oh! The luchador Daniel Weinstock resulted in the humanities section! It struck him-club arguments. But what does the referee? "
8:05 - A feminist is to unmask the luchador! She thought his mask was a niqab, conspicuous symbol of patriarchal oppression!
8:13 - A secular radical is trying to trample the introduction of Georges Leroux Spiral special issue of the last! Who will stop this carnage!
8:18 - Oh shit, The Undertaker has entered the backstore ... No, it's Yvan Lamonde! He farts in two the idea of religious heritage! Whence this lugubrious organ music and the smoke?
8:40 - Finished! But Weinstock and Lamonde want a rematch in a Steel Cage Death Match! Until next week, God willing!

It'll be fun! Because I do two readings soon:
And, yes, the rumor is true: A. Mathieu will make a comeback slam next week as part of the Rencontres internationales du documentaire. It was a rainy morning, while the vapors of alcohol and unspeakable excess dissipated yet, Mathieu was struggling with a terrible anxiety attack. Were they trying to forget? How long he remained? His work, his work! All this will he be in vain? And there, amidst this storm of desperate aimlessness in his mailbox that appeared to reslamer agonizing invitation. The temptation ... one last time, just one hit, one last chance perhaps to receive the applause of the crowd ungrateful and forgetful (it was a big crisis drama, there). So I gave, I said yes. This is where it happens:
