In 2008, the French group Casino inform its customers about the environmental impact of its products through new tags. Developed by the firm Bio Intelligence Service and validated by the French Agency environmental and energy management (ADEME), they will contain encrypted information and a color code and indicate the mass and CO2 content of the package (mass of greenhouse gases emitted to produce the packaging), recyclability and the distance traveled by food. This initiative will be phased in during 2008 3000 cover brand products and hundreds will be analyzed before the end of 2007.
